Abstract

Difficult situation in modern Ukrainian agriculture connected with the absence of state standards and quality control leads to frequent disruption of technology application machines. The problem of preservation of farm machinery is more acute compared to agricultural holdings that use expensive imported materials and equipment. Therefore, conducting exploratory research in developing methods of restoration of agricultural machinery paint coating, which do not require highly skilled personnel and are rather expensive is an up-to-date issue. The mechanisms of corrosion and electrochemical behavior of steels in aggressive operational environments of agricultural production are analyzed in the paper. The history of the discovery, classification and scope of the corrosion converters (rust converters) which do not need the complete removal of corrosion products from the metal surface during repair work are shown. Rust converters react with corrosion products to form a protective layer that prevents further corrosion and is a good basis for the application of paints. It also contains compositions of Ukrainian rust converters and technology of their application. Following the technology and taking into account the compatibility of paints, rust converters significantly provides the reducing of corrosion protection cost
